Turkey's central vacation attraction is an optimistic city called Antalya.
In the photogenic old town area, Kaleic is composed by narrow, winding streets and old wooden houses about the ancient city walls. Attalos II, a king of Pergamon, founded Antalya in the second century B.C.. Antalya has been continuously and thoroughly inhabited. The Romans, Byzantines and Seljuks totally lived in the city prior to its coming under Ottoman rule. Antalya was originally settled by the Hittites around 1500 B.C.

Forming the irregular coastline of isolated coves and mountainous headlands of Antalya, the pine bearing Tauras Mountains race down to the dazzling translucent sea.

The region, bathed in sunshine for 300 days of the year, is a paradise of sunbathing and swimming and of sporting activities such as windsurfing, water skiing, sailing, rafting, mountain climbing and hunting.  You  may swim in the warm waters of the Mediterranean in the afternoons, and ski the mountains in the mornings, if you come to Antalya in  March and April. Beautiful mosques and important historical sites await your curiosity amidst a geography composed from citrus and olive groves, palm and pine forests, of banana and avocado plantations. 18 km from Antalya along the east coast is Perge, an important city of ancient Pamphylian.
