KALEM Island, GARIP Island, and GUVERCIN Island are these three islands. B.C. 406, the Sparta and Athens navies battled mercilessly in the high seas of these islands. The war ended with Athens’s victory with having hundreds of vessels submerged around Kalem Island, in the Aegean Alolis area, where you can find the signs of the antiquity settlements that go back to B.C. 1200. The area has also been known as the AIOLIS during the years of antiquity and there have been settlements that go back to B.C. 1700 and still remain around the region. These settlements: PITANE, today know as Candarli; PERGAMON, Bergama; LESBOS, Greek Island Midilli; ATERNEUS, Dikili; ASSOS, Behramkale; are the most splendid cities from Hellenistic Era and less than an hour away. Kalem Island with a surface area of 480.000 sq meters, the Island of Kalem is located on the shores of Bademli Bay, the sailors’ hidden paradise spot, in the district of Dikili-Izmir.
