Drive to Golden Horn area where
tulips garden where decorated magnificent city of old Istanbul.
This horn-shaped estuary divides European Istanbul. One of
the best natural harbors in the world, the Byzantine and Ottoman
navies and commercial shipping interests were centered here.
Today, lovely parks and promenades line the shores where the
setting sun casts agolden hue on the water. At Fener and Balat,
neighborhoods midway up the Golden Horn, whole streets full
of historic wooden houses, churches, and synagogues date from
Byzantine and Ottoman times. The Orthodox Patriarchy resides
here at Fener. Eyup, a little further up, reflects Ottoman
architecture. Cemeteries dotted with dark cypress trees cover
the hillsides. Many pilgrims come to the Tomb of Eyup, in
the hope that their prayers will be granted.. Visiting the
Church of St. Savior in Chora (Kariye) Museum, a legendary
Byzantine church decorated with extraordinary late 14th century
frescoes and mosaics.
Proceed
to The Pierre Loti Cafe, atop the hill overlooking the shrine
is a wonderful place to enjoy the tranquility of the view
and drive for lunch at the typical Turkish restaurant (alcohol
drinks are not allowed to served)

where is showcase of Turkey. The models of over 100 architectural
works representing the rich historic and cultural heritage
of Turkey, all made in the scale of 1/25 with the aesthetic
sensitivity and of an artist, are taking theirplace in Miniaturk.
Drive to visitThe Istanbul City Walls, once an impenetrable
fortification, and stretch seven km. from the Sea of Marmara
to the Golden Horn . Recently restored, as also many times
before, these walls date from the fifth century and the reign
of Empiror Theodosius II. UNESCO has declared the walls during
Roman and Byzantine time. Coffee break at Bedesten, exhibiting
the traditional silk weaving girls at the carpet weaving courses
authorizated by the Ministry of National Education. It was
built by Emperor Constantine the Great in the 4th century.
It is the third largest basilica in the world and famous for
its mosaics.
